URAC has announced that it will open the Core 4.0 draft standards for a second public comment period. The first public comment period took place in the fall of 2015. Included in the new Core 4.0 draft standards are a significant number of new standards, particularly in the areas of regulatory compliance, information technology and quality management.
The first public comment period was open from August 27, 2015 through September 28, 2015. MRIoA, in collaboration with the National Association of Independent Review Organizations (NAIRO), conducted an in-depth review of the new draft and provided a detailed, comprehensive response, which was added to the large volume of responses URAC received.
The second version of the standards, which is slated for distribution for public comment in early April, is expected to include revisions resulting from the first public comment period as well as additional interpretive information and guide language. MRIoA encourages all organizations from different accreditation tracks (for example Health Utilization Management, Case Management, Disease Management, Triage, etc.) to review the draft standards in detail and provide additional comments to URAC on this very important revision.
